Great value beers and live music every Friday night. Good atmosphere but can be difficult to get served when it's busy. Nice terrace overlooking the canal at the back. Good for a chill in the afternoon in the summer.
Good atmosphere when it gets busy. Shows a lot of sports, however the beer isn't great. Lively place to go in the evenings though.

Friendly staff, great food. Always bring visitors here, never fails to deliver. Dog friendly in bar area. Two words... Sharing Roast.
Great pub if a bit on the pricey side. Would have given 5 starts but knocked one off as they don't serve ales upstairs! Come on guys!
Monks Ln, Newbury RG14 7RH, UK – 01635 800310
Been to this one a few times and it's consistently pretty good. The food is reasonably priced, with quite a wide variety on the menu. The rotisserie chicken is very good as well. There's even a small play area in one corner to keep young children from getting too bored.
Spacious....good table spacing..nice children's area outside. Good place to go to on a sunny day. The place has ample parking and the menu options are good.

It can be difficult to find somewhere that has options for both my carnivorous husband and myself who doesn't eat meat, dairy or egg. Brought my husband here for his birthday breakfast and he had some delicious eggs and they kindly made me beans on toast which is not on the menu (they do have vegan options but I wanted beans on toast). The chef did he absolute best not to look horrified when he gave me my breakfast and my husband loved his. Good waitress too.
Boring early bird menu. Excellent staff, very helpful and very friendly. Early bird menu disappointing. We all had crispy duck - not much crisp !! More like mince. Then we all paid extra for steak. This was more like a thick slice of roast beef. Recommend that you do as we did and buy extra vegetables.
Lambourn Rd, Woodspeen, Newbury RG20 8BN, UK – 01635 265070
Top end restaurant with fine dining food and setting. Atmosphere is relaxed but smart without feeling overly stuffy as some high end places tend to. Extensive wine selection to satisfy all tastes and budgets. Highly recommended.
Took my husband to the Woodspeen for his 50th birthday & was not disappointed. The staff are excellent & very welcoming, as for the food....amazing! We were lucky enough to be seated in front of the open kitchen & what a treat watching all the fantastic food being prepared & presented. Will definitely be visiting again to try the other dishes out. For a Michelin star restaurant the prices were very reasonable too.

Lovely French restaurant. We managed to eat prior to 7 pm so were able to take advantage of the fixed menu. Food was delicious with good sized portions. Waiter was very attentive. Restaurant was fairly busy but not crowded which made for a nice atmosphere.
Good food, but staff can be a bit hit and miss with how grumpy they are! I recommend the crepe compete for breakfast, its very good and very authentic. Place is usually very busy so book in advance.

Always friendly service, have been a customer for years, prompt delivery and good food.
Always call them for a Chinese takeaway. Although the portions have lots of vegetables and not a lot o meat.. please review this and I'll certainly change it to 5 stars :)

Always difficult to believe superlatives but I really feel this is the best Indian food I have eaten anywhere. Good staff, great menu. Highly recommended.
Always a good meal, though not the cheapest Indian restaurant in town. Quite small and gets quite busy so often have to book. Definitely worth trying out though.

First time here - will definitely be back! - at last we have found freshly cooked authentic curries - no microwaves used here!!! Staff so friendly and welcoming. We have been to so many Indian restaurants in this area and have now found our favourite - superb. Thank you!
Came here last night for my son's 10th birthday with a few of his friends. The restaurant is unassuming (I didn't even know it existed until last week) but the food and service was excellent and they even catered for one of my son's friends who didn't like curry. If you want a great tasting, good value curry in an unpretentious restaurant, this is the place to go.

Best curries in Newbury. Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, lovely food. Everything is a 10/10. Would highly recommend!
Not sure about the quality of the food. I think it has changed hands and isn't as good as it was in my opinion
34 Market Pl, Newbury RG14 5AG, UK – 01635 37969
Quite friendly staff. Open pizza kitchen which is nice. Restaurant is fairly small and bustling. Good food with plenty of vegan options!
Brilliant food and service. Highly recommend.

I have lived 10+ years in Italy and can confirm that this is the only real Italian restaurant in Newbury. Superb Pizza. Great and quick service. We go there ever week and never get disappointed. Parmigiana as a starter and Pizza Burrata as a main: Is a MUST try choice.
Very good. My king prawn starter was tomatoey and garlicky and generally very tasty. The main course was the gnicest gnocchi I've ever had. Service was good and everyone was happy.

Absolutely love this place! Delicious food... Mind out as the portions are huge! The atmosphere is really intermit and Carmen is lovely! Highly recommend, just give yourself plenty of time; this is good food not fast food.
Family ran place with great service and great food. Been going to celebrate events such as Birthdays and New Years. They have set menus for these events that are consistent and lush. Great food, honestly priced. Comparable with many, many other restaraunts. I've never had a bad experience at the Valle D'oro
5/6 Weavers Walk, Newbury RG14 1AL, UK – 01635 552644
Very attentive waiter who brought mint tea while we waited and plenty of water too. We shared a vegetarian mezza plate which was beautifully presented and plenty for two people. The food was delicious and there was a large variety of different items from the menu. Highly recommended.
Very very good food, Lebanese beers were really tasty too. The only reason for three stars was that the waiter serving us was positively hostile! My partner asked for a beer initially, I asked for table water, should have seen his face haha..the two of us spent almost £70 within an hour and not one member of staff said goodbye to us when we left, odd.

Amazing sushi, not your average run of the mill, the quality is fantastic and staff are clearly passionate about what they create and deliver to your table. Very knowledgeable with the freshest of ingredients that definitely show as the sushi is one of the best I have ever eaten! We will continue to frequent the restaurant as well as popping in and getting a lunchtime takeaway box for the amazing price of £6 which is brilliant value and just the perfect amount of sushi to get you through to dinner time
Probably one of the best sushi I've ever had! Cosy little place! Wonderful way to celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary

I have never experienced anything other than fabulous customer service and excellent food when I visit our Newbury Pizza Express restaurant. Whether with my children, with girlfriends or on our annual Christmas and summer Company parties - they look after us all with care and humour each and every time - without fail! Last night, with girlfriends we arrived as the kitchen was closing and they still found us a great table, poured some delicious wine and served us from the menu, regardless of them being ready to go home after a long, busy shift. The staff are always excellent and make us feel welcome whatever the occasion (or time of night!) I am already looking forward to my next visit! Thank you Newbury team!
was very welcoming food was amazing and had a great night :)

I visited this bar last Sunday to watch the football. Great menu too so i had to get a roast beef. I was not disappointed. It was the best roast i have had in a pub in a long time. What a great little bar with efficient and friendly staff. I will definitely be back.
Excellent venue for food and drink in town and they do an excellent selection of cocktails . Highly recommended !

It was a surprise to walk into a large but well thought out pub/diner, with river view! We both had the scampi, one with a really good salad and one with chips and peas. This cost us just £5 each. The staff were lovely. We will go there again.
Me and a fellow friend, attend to lunch at this Slug and Lettuce chain most Tuesdays. From a customer's point of view, I do recommend going to this Slug and Lettuce for some lunch in Newbury with a bunch of fellow friends. I would also like to commend the staff who work at this Slug and lettuce chain in Newbury. The staff are all pleasant and genuine people, a particular member of Staff who's name is Jack, does his job superb and is a genuine guy, who is professional and kind to his customers. Also the other staff who work here are really nice, however Jack really stands out from the other members of the team because he has a genuine conversation with you, and try's to make you feel at home. Also the other members of the team are brilliant and also deserve a pat on the back.

I Use The Elephant at the Market for an after work drinks meeting with a colleague on a Friday at around 530-630pm. Staff were friendly and the bar offered a decent amount and range of draft beers, with bottled beers and cider also available. The toilet facilities were clean and there were ample tables available up until about 6pm when the place started to fill up, I'd suggest coming early to get a table. I would suggest the Elephant at The Market as one of the better choices in Newbury.
Rooms and bathroom in the twin room are significantly bigger than the Queen room for same or close to the same price. The bed was comfortable and service was OK most of the time. Breakfast selection was very minimal. Would recommend only for short stays.
