Sunday bite to eat - Just wanted to say thank you to the two ladies running the bar and restaurant yesterday early evening (5/8/18). Stopped in for a bite t eat in the middle of a long journey and they brightened the whole day up. Lively, attentive and fun. Made a great deal of difference to the stop off. Had the Cajun chicken x2 and it was also perfect. Rounded off a great weekend - thank you. Will be calling again
Lovely meal in really good surroundings. Good service. We ate early 5.30pm which gave us ample time for a relaxed meal before going on to the Watermill theatre. I was surprised the restaurant was so quite at that time on a Friday evening.

My husband and I had a lovely stay here the chalet was of a very high standard excellent views of the garden very relaxing and private garden. Just what we needed for a peaceful stay.breakfast had so much choice something for everyone and was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful all in all a brilliant stay
Attractive golf course and very comfortable rooms in separate buildings dotted around the main building. Lovely grounds and surrounding area. Breakfast buffet almost entirely depleted at 9.15 on a Sunday is the only negative of our stay.

This place rocks, they have taken a clapped out Hotel & turned it into something good. Rooms are lovely with very comfortable beds. Nice tea & coffee in the room. Good TV & WiFi. Front if house staff lovely & the night porter is great. Nice food & great bar. If you are thinking of booking, just press the button and book you won’t be sorryZ
The rooms were great, breakfast was served quickly and tasted wonderful. Great impression of England from getting there with their nice open arms. We went while they were restoring the hotel, but they somehow still managed to make the place open and welcoming. A good place for personal space, and the hotels bar or the many nearby in town allow for meeting new people and friends or having a romantic dinner.

A much better experience than Sunday lunchtime when they had no roasts, burgers, chicken, etc. On a Sunday? This time we arrived late evening and got a lovely riverside spot. Bar stuff were fast, funny, friendly. Great beer and wine. Loved it.
It's pretty and there is lots of outside space. The lager is good and the food is decent. Unfortunately the bar service is terrible, people were walking in and getting served first, even though people had been waiting for 5 minutes at the bar. Simple stuff. The prices are too high too. It's competing with The Catherine Wheel and The Elephant and it's not as good as either of them.

Expensive but worth it, I eat a lot so I didn't get full but I very much enjoyed the flavour. Amazing scotch eggs and Sunday dinner. I would go every now and then as a treat.
Friendly staff, great food. Always bring visitors here, never fails to deliver. Dog friendly in bar area. Two words... Sharing Roast.
The King Charles Tavern, Cheap St, Newbury RG14 5BX, UK – 01635 36695
Staff were really friendly and helpful from the outset. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommend.
This pub is optimally placed about equidistant from the Railway Station, the Bus Station, and the Market Square. Inside the central bar servicing two rooms either side of the entrance reminds one of the original two-bar pub, but it has been tastfully converted to a modern decor. It has a changing list of interesting, well-kept real ales, and knowledgeable staff. The negative point for me is the quite loud Musak which one cannot escape; if they would turn this off, I would use the place much more often.

We had a lovely stay while visiting Highclere castle. The garden really is beautiful and in it self worth a visit. Very nice surroundings and very nice service.
Delightful, wonderful, inspiring place. Very friendly and helpful owners. Would recommend you take a walk around the gardens. Thanks Mark

I stayed here for one night. It is clean and cosy B&B. The ohners are friendly and welcoming. Cooked English breakfast was great. I definitely recommend this place.
We arrived in a wet and muddy state having cycled through a very wet and windy day, nonetheless the hosts of the B&B made us very welcome, sheltered us and our bikes and delivered an excellent breakfast the following morning. This is a first class place to stay with very welcoming and friendly hosts. Thank you from two very grateful cyclists.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
